About · Kim Flum
I really like figuring things out.
I'm a Los Angeles–based marketing and communications leader. Two decades across strategy, positioning, brand, digital, creative and integrated campaigns — in technology, venture development, aerospace, automotive, higher education, healthcare and more.
Communications are infrastructure. The common thread across everything I've worked on is that something important was being built, changed or figured out — and nobody had quite named it yet.
That range taught me something useful: industries change, but patterns repeat. Information gets trapped. Growth outpaces systems. Products get described instead of positioned.
I'm comfortable in a conversation about the business model, the positioning, the website, the pitch deck — or a single sentence that isn't doing its job.
Think at altitude. Build on the ground.

A few things I keep coming back to.
Find the signal.
Noise is abundant. Useful information isn't.
Look for the pattern.
One event is data. Repetition tells you something.
Understand the source.
Don't solve the symptom if the problem lives elsewhere.
Build infrastructure.
Good work shouldn't depend on one person remembering.
A lot of different rooms. One useful perspective.
